February 2022 Sweet Freedom Patriot Quilts Begins!

 First - which fabrics/fabric panel will we be using?

This is the Patriotic panel we will be using in our February Sweet Freedom Mystery quilt - isn't it gorgeous?!

My personal fabric choice for this mystery:


Fabric choices

I started out w/3 yards of the Red Stars & solid white Kona, 2 yards each of the Patriotic Blue and the Moda off-white w/white random stripes.  I have almost a yard left of the Kona white, 1 1/2 yards of the other fabrics.  

Once again - as we discussed in our January 2022 Sweet Freedom Mystery, Clue #2, depending on 'which' patriotic panel you use, the finished quilt size measurements you choose, How you cut/sew/finish will determine just How Much fabric you will need for your February 2022 Sweet Freedom Mystery.

My first February Sweet Freedom Mystery finished at:  56" x 67"

My second February Sweet Freedom Mystery w/optional 3" perimeter border finished at:  59" x  70"

Fortunately, I had 'most' of the fabrics I used in our February 2022 Sweet Freedom Mystery in my personal fabric stash - had to shop for the Patriotic panel and the cream/white stripe from Moda...On Sale!  Wishing you the same Luck and/or Happy Shopping!  (Speaking of Sales - AccuQuilt is having a Dandy right now 'until' Midnight!)

Our first February Clue will release by February 11, 2022...See You Then!

Assembling the 1776 Diamond Star Blocks

 Our 1776 Diamond Star Block was 'inspired' by this Barn Star block: 1776 Barn Star Time to cut the fabrics - I used a rotary cutter/ruler first, to test out our EQ8 design: Land of Liberty fabrics Once the 'testing' of the first cut units for the block was complete... Rotary cut units ...time to sew! 1st Diamond Star block assembled Now it's time to 'power cut' w/my fav cutting method - AccuQuilt dies: AccuQuilt GO! dies I used - Plus a 2" Finished multiple squares Studio die ALL cut: Block units ALL cut for the additional (17) 1776 Diamond Star Blocks Time to Sew, Mama SEW!  I like to sew the flying Geese units first: Starting to chain piece the flying geese I sew one side of ALL the squares first/press, then move onto the second side. Greetings Sweet Freedom Quilters, ANNOUNCEMENT: Sweet Freedom Mystery   RESUMES April, 2022! Over the past few months, we have received some incredible feedback/suggestions/recommendations . As a result, we have decided to embrace many of your ideas going forward... Thank YOU! FEEDBACK/SUGGESTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS: Finished Quilt Sizes - in the beginning, we thought that giving 'finished' quilt sizes would be too revealing and potentially 'spoil' the mystery, and possibly 'limit' the quilter's creative potentional in choosing 'How To' finish.
