Ready to get started cutting/sewing on some Stunning Stars?
Our January 2022 Sweet Freedom Mystery includes Stars - LOTS of 6" (FINISHED in the quilt 'after'ALL the seam allowances have been sewn), which makes them 6 1/2" prior to being sewn into our quilt = I refer to this measurement as 'in-the-raw'.
Our 'We The People' panel quilt includes twenty-six (26) TOTAL of these 6" Sawtooth Stars.
These are 6 1/2" in-the-raw Sawtooth Stars. AccuQuilt GO! dies will be used throughout our Mystery Adventures whenever possible for cutting blocks. The speed/accuracy provided by these cutting dies, IMHO, is second to none. This is very much a personal preference - to each her/his own. We will also include a direct web link to another alternative method for creating our Sawtooth Stars later in this blog post.
AccuQuilt GO! Dies used to create the 6" FINISHED/6 1/2" in-the-raw quilt block pattern:
GO! Square - 3 1/2" (3" FINISHED) Die #55006
GO! Square - 2" (1 1/2" FINISHED ) Die #55022
GO! Quarter Square Triangle/QST - (3" FINISHED Square) Die #55396

HollyAnne does a great job demonstrating cutting & sewing of our Sawtooth Star...Thanks!
Five (5) various patriotic/coordinating fabric prints were used to create our twenty-six (26) Sawtooth Stars, along w/white on white/neutral for the backgrounds:
Star #1 = five (5)
Star #2 = five (5)
Star #3 = five (5)
Star #4 = five (5), this is the fabric we chose to make our 26th Star from ;-)
Star #5 = five (5)
We created five (5) stars from each of the five (5) fabrics = 25. Made an extra Star from the dark blue fabric - you may choose whichever fabric you like to create your 26th Star block!
As promised - as a courtesy, we are providing a direct web link (above) to an 'alternate'method for creating our Sawtooth Stars. This blogger refers to them as 'Evening Stars', which we all know there is more than one name for most quilt blocks/versions of quilt blocks however, this is indeed our Sawtooth Star in the 'Evening Star' version, based on fabric choices/placement. She provides plenty of pics, math for various sizes, construction tips & tricks, and LOTS more...Enjoy!
Please'Scroll Down' her blog post to get thecorrect cutting sizes for our 6" FINISHED Sawtooth Star!
Also, Please keep in mind, this 'folded corner/sew/trim method' to create flying geese will most likely require MORE fabric than the AccuQuilt GO! dies do, and one of the reasons why we have given 'general' fabric requirements ;-)

Our 1776 Diamond Star Block was 'inspired' by this Barn Star block: 1776 Barn Star Time to cut the fabrics - I used a rotary cutter/ruler first, to test out our EQ8 design: Land of Liberty fabrics Once the 'testing' of the first cut units for the block was complete... Rotary cut units ...time to sew! 1st Diamond Star block assembled Now it's time to 'power cut' w/my fav cutting method - AccuQuilt dies: AccuQuilt GO! dies I used - Plus a 2" Finished multiple squares Studio die ALL cut: Block units ALL cut for the additional (17) 1776 Diamond Star Blocks Time to Sew, Mama SEW! Guest post excerpt by Capt Chris Kuehne, USMC (Ret) ' Jocko Willink, whose words carry the grit of a warrior, cuts through the noise. In a May 2025 X post, he wrote: “Memorial Day isn’t about sales or vacations. It’s about the brave who gave all. Honor them by living with discipline and purpose” (@JockoWillink). In a YouTube video, he expanded: “Remember me the fallen warrior… not for my sake but for yours. Remember what I sacrificed so you can truly appreciate the incredible treasures” of freedom. His call strikes deep. The Marines and close friends I lost in Iraq, warriors with quick grins and unwavering loyalty, didn’t die so we could chase “Memorial Day Blowout” deals. They believed in something bigger—duty, brotherhood, freedom. I can still see them, sharing stories under a desert sky, promising to have each other’s backs. Their deaths left a void that lingers, a grief I navigate daily, as do so many veterans who carry the names of their fallen in their hearts. Yet, their los...
